A lot of your money at university is probably spent on calling your friends and family back home. However, it is possible to get calls for free. Skype is a brilliant free to download service, in which you can make free calls and free video calls to others with skype.
What do you need?
All you need to use the service is to have an Internet connection and to download skype. Also if you do not have a microphone, you will need to purchase one, but you can pick them up cheaply. It is advisable if you are going to use skype a lot to buy a headset.
Alternatives
You can also use windows live messenger to chat to people using its call feature, however I have found skype to be the better alternative. Another cheeky way of getting free phone calls is to get people to call you;-)!
