As a student and an impulse buyer I struggle a bit sometimes. This is all sound advice. With regards to computing things - you can use free trials rather than buy the whole thing - they are so expensive and it's not necessary if you don't use it much. If you need to buy software then DO shop around first! Also try to borrow all your books from library rather than try to buy all the texts on your reading list.
